Starting April 1st, 2025, the World Federation of Great Towers will have a new requirement for membership. Towers can only remain in the Federation, or be eligeble to become a member tower, if they install a tower roller coaster that loops around the tower, allowing visitors to experience the thrill of a roller coaster while enjoying a stunning view. A special ‘Golden Membership’ will be awarded if the roller coaster includes a “tower drop” that takes riders straight down the side of the tower.
“This new requirement reflects our commitment to providing visitors with the most exciting and memorable experiences at our member towers,” said the Executive Director of the World Federation of Great Towers. “We believe that a tower roller coaster is the perfect way to combine thrills and views, and we can’t wait to see what creative and innovative roller coasters our member towers will come up with.”
The new requirement has already generated excitement among tower owners and enthusiasts. Some tower owners have already started brainstorming designs for their tower roller coasters, while others have expressed their support for the new requirement. Further information will be disclosed to the public after the yearly World Federation of Great Towers conference, which is expected to be held in July 2023.
“I think it’s a fantastic idea,” said a representative of the Eiffel tower in Paris. “We’ve always been proud of our tower’s views, and now we can give our visitors an even more thrilling way to enjoy them.”
