Tower Story

The Vukovar Water Tower was built from 1963 to 1968 on Vukovar’s highest point, “Najpar Garden”, what was then known as a public garden and an excursion site at the entrance to the settlement Mitnica. This tower stands tall at 156.33 meters (513 ft) above sea level and 50.33 meters (165 ft) above ground level. The Vukovar Water Tower was built by the firm Hidrotehna and designed by the project office Plan, both from Zagreb. During that time, with its water tank storing capacity of 2200 m³ (581000 gal), it was among the biggest structures of that kind in Europe.
