We are thrilled to announce that the iconic Mirador Torre Glòries in Barcelona, Spain, has officially become a part of the World Federation of Great Towers!
The Torre Glòries was built by the renowned French architect Jean Nouvel in collaboration with b720 Fermín Vázquez Arquitectos and embodies the image of a geyser ascending from the earth, its glass dome extending skyward. Jean Nouvel drew inspiration from the renowned Catalan architect and designer, Antonio Gaudí, as well as the imagery of water geysers. The tower is conveniently situated within a 10-minute walk from Gaudí’s masterpiece, the Sagrada Familia. The 144 meter/474 feet tall tower is amongst the tallest buildings in the city, and it is the only tower that is illuminated at night! The tower first opening date was 16th September 2005 as a corporative building for the company Aguas de Barcelona.
The Torre Glòries has 30 floors with windows, the top floor being the only 360º observation deck in Barcelona, the Mirador Torre Glòries. Since opening its doors in May 2022, the Mirador Torre Glòries has redefined the concept of urban observation decks. Offering a breathtaking 360º view of Barcelona, this unparalleled vantage point invites visitors to embark on a journey of discovery and reflection. The observation deck also hosts the innovative Hyperview Barcelona exhibition, providing insights into the city’s natural and social ecosystem through immersive audiovisual displays, brought to life through real-time data and captivating visuals.
And in the dome of the tower, at a height of 130 meters, guests are enveloped in the immersive world of Cloud Cities Barcelona, a stunning artwork by the visionary artist Tomás Saraceno. As visitors walk on this floating sculpture, they are immersed in a dialogue about climate change and urban ecosystems.
